Intrigued by movement with all styles of dance and all sounds of music, Catherine began her career with Scottish Highland dancing at the age of 9. Full of grace, strength, flexibility and disciplined training; Highland Dance gave her a world of opportunities. Performing and competing all over the Pacific NW, and throughout the United States including parts of Canada, she has individually received many awards and trophies. However, competing around the map gave Catherine much more than medals, it gave her the joy of entertaining and sharing the passion of dance. Captivating and motivating ages 2 to 102 Catherine's platform "Dancing your way to a better health" inspires many to get healthy by having fun! She recently performed at the 3rd annual Dancing with the Fayetteville Stars. They raised over $112k. The proceeds go towards the Center of Empowerment and Economic Development who in turn donates the money to a family in need of getting back on their feet and into a home that is safe. This coming year she will be more involved as the CEED event has asked her to be on the Board.
Catherine has studied under "Mambo King" Eddie Torres and Griselle Ponce. She is currently being coached by Karina Smirnoff. Catherine recently studied in Argentina and Brazil with many acclaimed artist, including Sheila Aquino (Brazilian Samba), Mariano "Chicho" Frumboli (Argentinean Tango), and Fabian Salas. Catherine continues enhancing her personal dance training as well as her teaching skills in Ballroom, Latin & Rhythm, Social and Highland dance. She is a member of the SOBHD (Scottish Official Board of Highland Dance) and has her Masters from the British Association of Teachers of Dance (BATD Certified).
